As the era of Prohibition came to a close in late 1933, the insightful Engel Family swiftly identified an unmet demand and seized the opportunity to establish Engel’s Pub in 1934. Guided by the founding Engels, the pub thrived in tandem with the burgeoning City of Edmonds, and it proudly retains the distinction of being the city’s most enduring and consistently operational enterprise. Remarkably, Engel’s Pub preserves its legacy through the very same liquor license issued at its inception—an illustrious honor as the second oldest liquor license in the State of Washington!
